DIVINE HEALING IN THE ATONEMENT

Sin and sickness are two fruit of the same tree, they are always grouped together.

Psalm 103:2-6 “bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all thine iniquities and heals all thy diseases, who redeems thy life from destruction who crowns thee with loving kindness and tender mercies who satisfies thy mouth with good things so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles the Lord executes righteousness and judgement for all that are oppressed.

God executes judgement for the oppressed, God is not the oppressor.

God as the great judge of heaven has decreed freedom for all that are oppressed. Jesus went about doing good and healing (setting free) all that are held in bondage through the oppression of sin and sickness.

When Jesus purchased our spiritual redemption He also purchased our healing because the sickness and disease were a result of sin. By providing the first (salvation from sin) He provided the second (healing form sickness). In reality He could not have done the first without doing the second as the second (symptom) was the result of the first (cause).

The very word “salvation” in Hebrew and Greek means the same thing, absolute deliverance from all harm and lack.

What is the source of all sickness?

Let’s go back to the book of Genesis and we shall find Satan the source of sin and sickness, making his initial attack on man in the words addressed to Eve: “yea hath God said?” Genesis 3:1. Satan was compelled to attack Gods word to question the authenticity of the divine revelation: for so long as man rests on the Word of God, he is perfectly invincible, impregnable, and immovable. They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion which cannot be removed but abideth forever (Psalm 125:1).

Satan cannot touch them rather they are the most serious menace to all Statanic devices, plans, plots, and schemes, for to them has been given the power over all the power of the enemy. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…(Isa 54:17). So whether it be shot or shell, gas, liquid fire, bombs, tanks, submarines, airplanes, artillery, cavalry or infantry, pestilence, famine, earthquake, lightning or malicious tongues, we are perfectly safe as long as we are in the Word of God.

Satan must dislodge us from our refuge in the secret place of the Most High before he can as much as touch us.

But alas, Eve did not resist but allowed Satan to instill doubt which matured into unbelief and developed into disobedience and sin, sickness, sorrow, and death entered into the world. Then God gave them the promise of a savior and responded to the faith in that promise by bestowing on them redemption in type. He clothed them with garments not made by themselves which cost the lives of innocent victims. These were placed on them by God’s own hands and enveloped them in spirit, soul and body in a covering of blood.

Here we have a beautiful picture of the redemption which is ours in Christ Jesus. Note that it takes in the body. God clothed them and enveloped their physical beings as well as their souls and spirits in a righteousness provided by sacrifice.

Jesus took the death penalty which we earned and gave us His life eternal life instead. Hence apprehension of Jesus Christ in all His offices by simple faith brings perfect peace and thank God this everlasting peace is sure as Jehovah’s throne.

But do you say “I don’t understand how the death of an innocent victim on my behalf can bring me peace”? No we don’t have to understand but only believe and that we can do.

God owes us something and that something is death and He must pay the debt. He will pay it in full – “the soul that sinneth it shall die” (Ezek 18:20). But Jesus Christ who had no sin laid to His charge, ran in between the human race and the death penalty and bore it for us so that God having made His son suffer the full penalty for sin can justly pardon us.

Noe He only requires of us that we acquiesce in this wonderful plan of redemption that we let ourselves be clothed. Don’t come all dressed up in filthy rags of self-righteousness but be arrayed body, soul and spirit in the righteousness 9rightness) of Christ. This is divine healing and divine health. Never forget that it comes only through the shed blood.

Banish my sicknesses those stripes did heal

Because the work on Calvary is finished

Now in my body His life I feel

Because the work on Calvary is finished
