God’s Word is our Ultimate Rule of Faith and Action

The word of God is our final authority so our experiences must be judged by scripture not judged by our experiences.

The word of God id forever settled in heaven and we must settle it on the earth. Psalm 119:82-92 Gods word will never change, what it says today, it will say 100 years from now so we must change our minds to agree with Him.

God’s word never stops working Isaiah 55:11 “so shall My word be that goeth forth out of my mouth it shall not return to me void but it shall accomplish that which I please and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”

I share with you the story of Lilian B Yeomans in her book “Healing from Heaven” how she was delivered from drug addiction (morphine and chloral habits).

Lilian Yeomans was a graduate of the University of Michigan department of medicine Ann, Arbor. She had been saved several years but like Peter had been following afar off when she fell into this snare. Following afar off can be very costly. It was not her plan to become a drug addict but had been engaged in strenuous work practicing medicine and surgery and due to anxiety and overwork occasionally resorted to morphine, singly or in combination with other drugs to steady her nerves and enable her to sleep.

Knowing the awful power of the habit inducing drug to destroy its victims and seeing practically how people had been destroyed by it, she was utterly inexcusable for trying to trifle with such a destructive agent. One day she made a startling discovery that the drug or rather the demon power backing the drug was playing with her. She said “the blood thirsty tiger that had devoured many victims had me in his grasp”.

She tells of her untold suffering and how morphine had become the master and she the slave. When by the tremendous exercise of will power she went 24 hours without it her condition was truly pitiable. She describes herself as a perfect wreck mentally and physically “like a skeleton with a devil inside”.

Though she dreamed night and day for freedom, the dream seemed impossible of realization. She said “it will take something stronger than death to deliver me, for the hold of this hideous thing is far deeper than my physical being” and she was right for it took the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus which makes us free form the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2).

You may ask did she pray? Oh yes she came to a place where she did nothing else but prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed. Night after night she called upon God walking up and down calling on God and sometimes literally tearing the hair out of hair head. But she wasn’t healed and she says its because she didn’t believe the simple statement of the word of God, her healing could not be manifested because of unbelief. She had shut the door and prevented the power of God from operating unhindered in her body.

Why did she not have faith? Simply because she did not have enough light to take it. Faith is a gift that must be appropriated. Moreover Gods method of bestowing it is through His Word. Faith cometh by hearing (Romans 10:17). If anyone should ask by what special scripture she was healed she would say the whole book.

She found a great number of healing passages in the bible and when Gods word was found she ate them and they did their work. The word never fails, she knew she was healed and that she couldn’t help being healed because God was faithful and she almost lost her interest in the symptoms she reports “I was so certain of the truth”.

The drugs went and not only that but the specific irresistible, indescribable craving produced by demon power was also gone. Her appetite became excellent and her soul was filled with His praises:….”my soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my savior” Luke 1:46,47.

The best of all is that this healing was no happy accident no special miracle on her behalf but the working out in her of God will for us all – perfect soundness by faith in the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

All hail the power of Jesus Name

Let angels prostrate fall

Bring forth the royal diadem

And crown Him Lord of all.
